Research— Vehicle Crashworthiness |
|
Vehicle crashworthiness using finite element models of common U.S. vehicles are investigated using LSDYNA. The vehicle models are obtained from NCAC / GWU. Frontal, side, and rear collisions between multiple vehicles are simulated using LSDYNA. The occupant is modeled using a HYBRID III dummy. Parameters such as HIC, NIC, and contact forces between the occupant and vehicle structure are studied for injury assessment. Oblique impact between a light weight truck and the G4 W-beam guard rail, is also simulated. Some movies of the simulations are provided below.
