Ceramic Matrix Composites for Hypersonic Reentry Vehicle Aeroshells: Design, Manufacturing, Testing, and Modeling of 3D Integrally Woven CVI-PIP C/SiC Sandwich Composites
This work was sponsored by DARPA-DSO and AFRL under the Materials Development for Platforms (MDP) program and was performed by Dr. Nilakantan while he worked at Teledyne Scientific & Imaging. Due to the export-controlled nature of this work, only very limited Distribution A content has been included here. The final report is Distribution B and can be requested from DARPA-DSO. A small subset of the overall work has been published as Distribution C in the Journal of DoD Research & Engineering (J. DoD R&E) and can be accessed via DTIC. During the course of the program, Dr. Nilakantan presented on behalf of Teledyne Scientific & Imaging at the annual USACA and NSMMS conferences as well as to the government customer. No additional details about this work can be provided.
